The product
Every app store has a pile of permit-test apps, and nearly all of them do the same thing: throw a bank of questions at you and report a score. That works if you already know the material. If you do not, you fail the same questions repeatedly and never find out why.
DMV Permit Pass is built the other way around — teach first, then test. Short lessons drawn from the official Florida Driver License Handbook cover the material in bite-sized pieces; practice then drills the specific questions a learner keeps getting wrong; and full 50-question mock exams reproduce the real format, including the 80% passing threshold, so the actual test day holds no surprises.
What is in it
- Handbook lessons — the official material broken into short, readable units instead of a wall of PDF.
- Adaptive review — spaced repetition that keeps resurfacing weak spots and quietly retires what you have already mastered.
- Road-sign flashcards — built on official sign imagery, the single biggest source of avoidable misses.
- Real mock exams — 50 questions, real format, real pass mark.
- Progress tracking and an “Exam Ready” score — one honest number telling a learner whether they are actually ready to book the test.
- Works offline — studying happens in waiting rooms and passenger seats, not always on Wi-Fi.
- Five languages — English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese and French, which matters a great deal in Florida.
Florida first, then the rest. The question banks, handbook content and exam rules are state-specific, so the app launched with Florida done properly rather than fifty states done thinly. Learners in other states can register interest and be notified as each one lands.
Built for the app stores
Native iOS and Android apps, a companion web experience, subscription billing handled through Apple and Google, purchase restore, and an in-app path for reporting a questionable exam question so the content stays accurate. Support runs through RG Loomis directly at russ@rgloomis.com.
Both apps are submitted and in store review. We will add the App Store and Google Play links here as soon as they are approved — in the meantime the web experience at dmvpermitpass.com ↗ is live.
Why it matters
DMV Permit Pass is a consumer mobile product end to end: content design, spaced-repetition logic, native apps on two platforms, localization into five languages, subscription billing, and the store submission process on both sides. It is the studio shipping a polished direct-to-consumer app, not just back-office software.
