Beer Can Island isn't just a place. It's a social network for the outdoors.

It started as a real 9-acre island in Tampa Bay. Today it's a full social platform and marketplace for people who actually go outside — book a boat charter, rent a jet ski, buy and sell boats, find a captain, discover events, and crowdfund a trip, all in one app.

Beer Can Island — Tampa Bay

More than a sandbar

From a private island to a platform

Beer Can Island (officially Pine Key) is a privately owned island in Tampa Bay, Florida, reachable only by boat. The community that grew up around it wanted more than a destination — they wanted a way to find boats, captains, gear, and each other. So we turned the island's membership club into something bigger: a social network and marketplace for the entire outdoor lifestyle.

The app for people who actually go outside. Boating, fishing, captains, charters, concerts, sports, festivals — Beer Can Island connects the people, services, and events that make up life on and around the water.

The social network

A community built around the water

At its core, Beer Can Island is a real social network. Members create profiles, post and share, and connect with boaters, anglers, surfers, and outdoor people worldwide.

  • Profiles & vanity links — every member gets a personal page and a clean URL like beercanisland.com/yourname.
  • A live feed — posts, photos, and local Tampa Bay events surface right in the stream.
  • Groups & messaging — start a group, plan a trip, and message other members directly.
  • Comments & reactions — full social interactions on every post.
  • Host your own events — parties, meetups, and group trips, all from your phone.
  • Worldwide reach — the network isn't limited to the island; it works in every U.S. city.

  • Buy & sell boats from verified sellers.
  • Buy or rent gear — kayaks, paddleboards, and fishing equipment.
  • Find local services — captains, mechanics, deckhands, and party hosts.
  • The captain wizard — list a charter in minutes with your own calendar, pricing, and instant-book rules. No monthly fees, just per-transaction.
  • Crowdfund a trip or a cause — the built-in "fundme" raises money for a trip, a project, or a fundraiser.
  • Discover events — concerts, sports games, festivals, fishing tournaments, and markets in every U.S. city.
The tiki bar on Beer Can Island in Tampa Bay, Florida

The island

Where it all started

The app is anchored to a real place: a privately owned, 9-acre island in Tampa Bay accessible only by boat. Members of the Beer Can Island Owners Club LLC get physical access to the island, prepaid drink tickets at the tiki bar, boat-ride events, and even optional ownership shares in the LLC — with K-1 tax documents handled automatically.

That blend of a real-world membership club and a digital platform is what makes Beer Can Island unusual — and it's all powered by the software underneath.
